The Riversleigh Society
Expired item - What's in a name?
The Riversleigh Society needs a new name that reflects our change of role in recent years. Originally, the Riversleigh Society was establish as a support group for the Riversleigh fossil collecting expeditions. In recent times, we have been more heavily involved in the promotion of Australasian palaeontological science to the wider community. Our current name suggests that our efforts might still be primarily directed towards work at Riversleigh and the fossil mammals from there. This is not true.
Put on your thinking caps. We need a name that reflects our new role, is catchy and memorable. We have already had a few suggestions, but these are only the start:
Fossils are Us
Fossils Australia
Dreamtime Australia
Focus on Fossils
Australian Prehistory
Dreamtime Fossils
Australian Palaeontological Society
Fossils or Else
Australian Dreamtime
Long Dead But Not Forgotten
Ancient Australia
Ancient Australia Revealed
Fossil Eyes
The Australasian society for scientific exploration of the past
Oz fossils
Ozfoss
The Gondwana Society
Reading the Rocks
Bad to the Bone
All suggestions are welcome. The new name will be adopted once the entire membership has had a chance to consider the options.
